About this piece
The Doll Festival is a day to wish for a daughter's health and happiness. As its name, meaning "an auspicious day", suggests, this Hakata doll Hina pair is made to celebrate such an occasion.
Hina dolls are usually set out from early February, around Risshun, the traditional start of spring, and displayed until the festival on 3 March. With the folding screen and stand, they bring a festive corner to any room.
