About this piece
A girl's first Doll Festival on 3 March is called her hatsu-zekku. Family and relatives gather, set out Hina dolls to wish the baby a healthy life, and share a celebratory meal.
Iwai-tachi-bina, a pair of standing Hakata dolls, carries a name suited to that happy day. Complete with folding screen and stand, it can be sent as a gift for a first festival.
