About this piece
The fourth month of the old calendar is called uzuki, "the Rabbit month", a name sometimes said to come from the white unohana (deutzia) flowers that bloom then. The Hour of the Rabbit falls around six in the morning, at the dawn of the day.
This standing plaque, painted with a rabbit by Hakata doll maker Toshiya Honda, can be given to someone born in the Year of the Rabbit or displayed as a seasonal decoration.
