About this piece
The Dragon is the only imaginary creature among the twelve signs. From the legend of tōryūmon, in which a carp that climbs a raging waterfall becomes a dragon, it has come to symbolise success and great leaps forward, and it has long been revered as a water god who brings rain.
This 11cm Hakata doll was made for the Year of the Dragon in 2024, a charm to wish for a year on the rise.
