About this piece
The Day of the Snake, which comes round every twelve days in the calendar, is held to be the fair day of Benzaiten, whose messenger is the snake; visiting her on that day is said to bring good fortune in money and progress in the arts. The Hour of the Snake falls around ten in the morning.
This standing plaque, painted with a snake by Hakata doll maker Toshiya Honda, can be given to someone born in the Year of the Snake or enjoyed as a zodiac decoration.
