About this piece
North-west lies between the Dog and the Boar and so is called inui, also written with a single character. The Hour of the Dog falls around eight in the evening, when the day is done and the family relaxes together.
This standing plaque, painted with a dog by Hakata doll maker Toshiya Honda, is for the birthday of someone born in the Year of the Dog, or as a zodiac decoration.
