About this piece
Many characters with good meanings, such as those for beauty, goodness and righteousness, contain the character for sheep. This is said to be because the sheep was a precious animal in ancient China, esteemed as an offering to the gods.
This 11cm Hakata doll was made for the Year of the Sheep in 2015. The zodiac comes full circle every twelve years, and in 2027 we made a new Sheep figure.
