About this piece
The rooster, herald of the dawn, has been held sacred, and in the myth of Amaterasu hiding in the rock cave, roosters were made to crow to call back the morning. Because tori sounds like the word for "taking in", it is also a charm for prosperous business, and at the Tori-no-ichi fairs in November, kumade rakes are sold to rake in good fortune.
This 13cm Hakata doll was made for the Year of the Rooster in 2017, a fitting gift for anyone in business.
