About this piece
As the phrase chototsu-mōshin, "charging straight ahead like a boar", suggests, the boar is a symbol of courage and passion. There is also the custom of eating inoko-mochi on the Day of the Boar in the tenth month of the old calendar to pray for good health and many descendants, making it an auspicious sign for wishing health.
This 10cm Hakata doll was made for the Year of the Boar in 2019, a fitting gift for anyone pressing on towards a goal.
