About this piece
The Doll Festival is celebrated with chirashi-zushi, clear clam soup, and diamond-shaped hishi-mochi and hina-arare rice crackers. Clam shells fit only their own partner, so clams are eaten as a wish for a happy marriage.
Shun'en-bina takes its name from such a spring banquet. Displayed alongside the festive table, this Hakata doll Hina makes the day all the brighter.
