About this piece
The Nitten traces its origins to the Ministry of Education Art Exhibition (Bunten) founded in 1907, and is one of the most historic comprehensive art exhibitions in Japan. Passing through the Teiten and Shin-Bunten, it has continued as the Nitten since the end of the Second World War.
This work, accepted for the 35th Nitten in 2003, is one of Hakata doll maker Toshiya Honda's UTAGE series.
