About this piece

Mukansa is the status granted to artists whose record at the Nitten has been recognised, allowing them to exhibit without passing through the jury. This Mai was shown by Hakata doll maker Toshiya Honda with that status at the 3rd Reorganised Nitten in 2016.

At 78cm, it is the largest of our Nitten works, a piece to lend dignity to a large space such as a hotel or hall lobby or a spacious alcove.
