About this piece
From 2009, Hakata doll maker Toshiya Honda has continued to submit works on the theme of Mai, "dance", to the Nitten. A series that explores new forms under the same title year after year reflects a theme he has long engaged with.
This Mai was accepted for the 44th Nitten in 2012. Please view it as one of the series, alongside the other Mai.
