About this piece
"Were we born to play? Were we born to frolic?" So runs a well-known verse in Ryōjin Hishō, a song collection of the late Heian period, expressing an adult's heart stirred by the voices of children at play. The character yū, "play", evokes a life lived freely, as the heart leads.
This 30cm Hakata doll takes yū as its theme, a piece to enjoy in a living room or entrance, where it will be seen every day.
