About this piece
Senju Kannon, the Thousand-armed Kannon, is said to save all beings, overlooking no one's suffering, with a thousand hands and an eye in the palm of each. The number one thousand stands for the limitless, a symbol of boundless compassion.
The Buddha who protects a person throughout life according to their birth sign in the zodiac is called their mamori-honzon, or guardian deity. This 15cm Hakata doll is a fitting gift for a child born in the Year of the Rat, or as a guardian for a family member.
