About this piece
Fugen Bosatsu presides over compassion and the power to put it into practice. He is often shown riding a white elephant with six tusks, and together with Monju, the bodhisattva of wisdom, he flanks the historical Buddha in the Shaka triad.
This 13cm Hakata doll is the guardian deity of those born in the Years of the Dragon and the Snake, to keep close as the guardian of one's own sign.
