About this piece
An inu-bako is a small lidded box shaped like a dog. A kōgō is a small lidded container for incense, also known as a utensil of the tea ceremony.
Hakata doll maker Toshiya Honda has rendered the dog box as an incense container. Worked in a new pattern based on gold, it invites you to take it in your hand and lift the lid.
