About this piece
Momotarō is the hero of a folk tale: a boy born from a giant peach who sets out with a dog, a monkey and a pheasant to defeat the ogres of Onigashima. Born from a peach, a fruit believed to ward off evil, he is also an apt charm against misfortune.
This 24cm Hakata doll renders Momotarō, at once strong and kind. Display it for the Boys' Festival with the wish that a child grow up brave.
