About this piece
Momotarō's companions, the dog, the monkey and the pheasant, join his quest after he shares his millet dumplings with them. The tale of friends joining forces to face hardship is still loved by children today.
This 20cm Hakata doll, whose Japanese title is written in soft hiragana, shows the monkey and the dog alongside Momotarō, presenting the world of the folk tale in an approachable way.
