About this piece
Kintarō is a boy of legendary strength said to have grown up among the animals of Mount Ashigara, where he wrestled a bear. He later took the name Sakata no Kintoki and is said to have served the warrior Minamoto no Raikō as one of his four great retainers.
As an emblem of a child growing up strong and free in nature, he has long been a favourite subject for the Boys' Festival. Display this 20cm Hakata doll with the wish that a child grow up full of health.
